Blakely No Longer On Auburn Roster

Auburn is left with just two scholarship running backs for spring practice with the announcement that Mike Blakely has left the team.

Auburn, Ala.—Auburn's already thin running back position will be even thinner in spring practice as a university spokesman confirmed on Wednesday night that reserve back Mike Blakely has left the Auburn team and is no enrolled in school this semester.

That leaves the Tigers with just junior Tre Mason as well as junior college transfer Cameron Artis-Payne as the only scholarship players at the position for spring practice and makes this signing class even more important for Coach Gus Malzahn's first year on the Plains.

Playing last season after a redshirt year following a transfer from Florida, Blakely was third on the team in rushing in 2012 with 153 yards on just 33 carries. His best game came against Mississippi State when he ran for 42 yards on 11 carries against the Bulldogs. He's expected to transfer closer to home with South Florida a possible destination.
