Tigers move early on D.C. lineman

This 6-foot-3, 285-pound lineman from the Washington D.C. area snagged an offer from Clemson in early October.

Our Lady Good Counsel High School [Olney, Md.] junior Sam Mustipher now has over 15 offers.

"The recruiting coordinator came to my game, coach [Jeff] Scott is the recruiting coordinator for my area. He came to one of my games and informed the coaching staff that I had the [Clemson] offer," Mustipher recently told CUTigers.

Clemson's coaching staff made the rounds through the Good Counsel last month.

"Coach [Dabo] Swinney and coach [Brent] Venables came by," Mustipher said. "We can't really talk, seeing how I'm only a junior. They wanted me to come down for the first Junior Day…they want to get me down there as soon as possible."

In less than one week, Clemson will pick up a signed national letter of intent from Mustipher's teammate, Dorian O'Daniel.

Though Mustipher has yet to step foot on the Clemson campus, he's heard plenty about Tigertown from O'Daniel and former Clemson target Kendall Fuller, who will sign with Virginia Tech.

"Beautiful campus," Mustipher said. "They're getting a chance to play in the ACC Championship pretty much every year -- definitely a talented team."

Along with Clemson, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Florida, Michigan and West Virginia have offered the three-star prospect.

Mustipher said it was "too early" for him to offer a list of leaders.

Scout.com ranks him the No. 13 defensive tackle in the class of 2014. Clemson has offered Mustipher as an offensive lineman.
