Johnson Takes Final Visit

National signing day has come and gone, but one of the nation's top junior college players remains available. Hutchinson standout Toby Johnson took his fifth and final official visit this weekend. The excursion to Mississippi State is the final step in the process before Johnson announces his intentions on Tuesday.

"I had a great visit," said Johnson. "Rufus Warren was my host and he's a cool guy.

"We related about a lot of things. He showed me around and all of that.

"He's from the delta and we talked about that a lot."

Johnson was the only official visitor on campus, so the Bulldogs really rolled out the red carpet for the four star standout.

"I got to do a whole lot of stuff while I was there," said Johnson. "The main thing for me was meeting the players and getting to know all of them.

"I was blown away by the facilities there. I love the weight room.

"I wasn't expecting the facilities to be as nice as they were, but they do it right down there.

"Everything Mississippi State is doing football wise is right."

Before boarding the plan back to Kansas, Johnson had a chance to sit down and speak with the Bulldog coaching staff and discuss the possibilities in Starkville.

"Coach (Dan) Mullen told me that they were only recruiting one defensive tackle, high school or junior college," said Johnson. "They want me to come in and be their guy.

"I know Mississippi State is counting on me and that means something.

"I would say the visit really helped their chances."

In less than 48 hours, Johnson will sign a college scholarship officially end his college recruitment.

"I am still going to sign on Tuesday," said Johnson. "I am ready to get everything settled.

"The hats on the table are going to be Mississippi State, Auburn, Georgia and Oklahoma."
