SHAKER HEIGHTS TEAMMATES VISITING
Shaker Heights, Ohio, High School football coach Jarvis Gibson has a bunch of college prospects on his roster.
Two of those prospects – Jamarez Bowen and Joe Henderson – will be among more than 50 prospects attending the University of Louisville's Junior Day on Saturday at the football complex.
Bowen, a 6-foot-5, 275-pound offensive lineman, is the highest-rated player on the Shaker Heights roster. He has offers from U of L, Akron, Pittsburgh, UCLA, Indiana, Bowling Green and North Carolina State.
Bowen told Scout.com analyst Bill Greene that he's also hearing from Ohio State and Florida State along with some other schools.
"Louisville is a school I'm very interested in, and I'm looking to learn more about them," Bowen told Greene. "I'm considering every school right now, and I won't have a favorite list until I can take some visits and get to know these schools a little better. I'm going to Indiana the following week, and I definitely have interest."
The 6-foot-4, 200-pound Henderson is a defensive end with offers from Cincinnati, Illinois, Pittsburgh, Michigan and Minnesota.
Tennessee ATHLETE HAS 20 PLUS OFFERS
One expected visitor to Junior Day is a top prospect from the state of Tennessee – Gallatin, Tenn., Station Camp, athlete Josh Malone.
The 6-foot-2, 170-pound Malone already has more than 20 offers, including U of L, Ohio State, Florida, Notre Dame, Michigan, Tennessee, Kentucky, Miami, Fla., South Carolina, Vanderbilt and others.
Malone is a top wide receiver and also plays in the secondary. He had 28 catches for 408 yards and five touchdowns as a junior at Station Camp. He also had several interceptions and returns punts and kickoffs.
OHIO LINEBACKER HEADED TO CAMPUS
Canton, Ohio, McKinley linebacker Jamal Davis has one offer – Toledo – and is getting a lot of interest from some other schools.
One of those schools is Louisville and the 6-foot-3, 200-pound Davis is expected to travel this weekend and check out the Cardinals' campus.
He's also hearing from Michigan, West Virginia, Pittsburgh and Ohio State.
CLEARWATER DB GETS OFFER, WILL VISIT
Clearwater, Fla., Countryside defensive back Mike Johnson picked up his seventh offer this week and it came from the Louisville Cardinals.
Now, the 6-foot, 160-pound Johnson is headed to Louisville for Junior Day.
Johnson also has offers from South Florida, Cincinnati, Purdue, Indiana, Ohio University and Central Florida.
CARDS IN TOP THREE FOR Georgia LINEBACKER
Tucker, Ga., linebacker Detric Dukes is headed to U of L's Junior Day and recently told us the Cardinals are in his top three.
The 6-foot-1, 195-pound Dukes said U of L, Auburn and Vanderbilt are up there in his process. He has offers from U of L, Auburn, along with N.C State, Connecticut, Indiana and Syracuse.
Dukes made a visit to Auburn last weekend.
OHIO LINEMAN GETS ATTENTION
Minford, Ohio, High School football coach Brent Daniels has a top offensive lineman in the Class of 2014.
And Daniels said the colleges are taking notice of Jared McCray.
The 6-foot-5, 285-pound McCray will visit Louisville for Junior Day on Saturday. He's also heard from Cincinnati, Wisconsin, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Akron, Kent State, Toledo, Missouri and Nebraska "just to name a few," according to Daniels.
Daniels said McCray is a lineman with "great feet and a great work ethic."
BEST OF MIDWEST STANDOUT TO U OF L
Beavercreek, Ohio, linebacker Airius Moore, who was named as a top defensive performer at the Best of the Midwest Combine earlier this week, is expected to be on campus for Junior Day.
The 6-foot-2, 25-pound Moore has offers from Illinois and Cincinnati and is also hearing from U of L, Michigan State and Boston College.
