Auburn Offer A Big One For Pettway

Recently committing to Florida State, Prattville running back Kamryn Pettway says an Auburn offer could change things.

Prattville, Ala.—Taking a visit just before signing day to check out the Auburn Tigers, 2014 running back Kamryn Pettway got an introduction to Coach Gus Malzahn's program, but didn't get the offer he was looking for. On Saturday that all changed as the Tigers offered the physical running back and he says it was what he had been waiting for.

"It was nice," Pettway says. "I enjoyed my visit. I really bonded with Coach (Dameyune) Craig a little bit and the running back coach (Tim Horton). Coach Malzahn told me they were going to offer me. It made me feel good. I wanted the offer a few weeks ago, but they were still recruiting for the last class."

Adding an offer from Florida State following a visit to Tallahassee a week ago, Pettway committed to the Seminoles. Saying that he committed because he knew that would probably bring more offers down the road, Pettway says at the moment it's a two-team race for him following his Auburn trip.

"It changes things a little bit because they were my first choice besides Florida State," Pettway says. "It's between Florida State and Auburn right now. I'm still committed to Florida State right now.

"It probably could change a lot of things for me because it's close to home," he adds of Auburn. "I think that would be real important for me to have my family and friends come and watch me play every weekend."

Learning more about the Auburn offense on his second visit in less than a month, Pettway says Malzahn and the offensive coaches told him plenty about how they envision using him in the Tigers' offense down the road.

"He said he would have me at tailback and we would run the ball a lot," Pettway says. "In the fourth quarter it would be hard for me to be tackled. That sounds good to me."

Pettway says that he'll now try to make a decision between Auburn and Florida State and hopes to have things done in the next few weeks.

"I'm going to think it over a little bit more, but I pretty much have an idea of what I want to do," Pettway adds. "It will probably be a couple of weeks."
