Casher Excited About Auburn Offer

Offensive line prospect Joshua Casher discusses his Auburn offer, what he likes about Coach J.B Grimes and much more.

Mobile, Ala.—Big offensive lineman Joshua Casher from St. Paul's Episcopal visited Auburn last weekend for a Junior Day and was hoping to get an offer from the Tigers. While it didn't happen while he was on the Plains, it didn't take long for that offer to come through as Auburn sent him the news this week that the news he was waiting for is now official.

"I was very, very excited," Casher tells Inside The Auburn Tigers. "That's one of my favorite schools. I really enjoyed the campus when I went up there. I had an extraordinary time at the Junior Day. The coaches were real nice, especially the offensive line coach; Coach (J.B.) Grimes. I feel like he would be a great offensive line coach."

"I was hoping to get the offer at the Junior Day," he adds. "It's kind of funny that two days later I got the offer. I was so excited. They know how to treat their recruits, I can tell you that."

At 6-1 ½, 297, Casher plays offensive tackle for Coach Steve Mask at St. Paul's, but his future is likely going to be on the interior offensive line on the next level. Having the opportunity to sit down with Grimes and discuss the offense and his style of coaching, Casher notes that he loves the new line coach for the Tigers.

"The thing that I really like about Coach Grimes is that I feel like he really cares about his players no matter what," Casher says. "It's not all about football to him, but when it's time he wants your undivided attention. I like him because he reminds me of old school football. When you with him he's going to get it out of you. I just like talking to him. He just seems like a great person to be around."

While on his visit last weekend Casher says that Auburn coaches talked to him about playing the center position. With a load of offensive tackles on campus and very few interior players, he says that the thoughts of playing center are intriguing for him.

"Center has always been a position I have been fascinated with because you have to be smart, but yet you have to get your assignment done," Casher says. "I like being able to control the offensive line and knowing I've got two guys on each side that have my back. I think center would be a great position and I would really enjoy it."

With offers from Florida, Florida State, and Texas Tech in addition to Auburn, Casher already has plenty of options to choose from when the time comes. In no hurry to make his decision, the lineman says he'll just enjoy the moment and make his choice when it feels right.

"I'm kind of up in the air right now," Casher says. "I'm just weighing my options. I have a lot of teams that I really like. Going to visit the campuses you know each team has great things to offer. There is a lot to take into consideration. Each university has amazing things to offer, both academically and athletically.

"I have talked to my parents about everything and right now I think it's too early to make a decision," he adds. "I'm trying to stay focused right now on school and everything, but it won't be long I can tell you that. I just really want to see which school I can see myself being the best fit for."
