Pettway Discusses De-Commitment From Noles

Running back Kamryn Pettway talks about backing off his Florida State commitment and also an update on potential visitors to Auburn this weekend.

Prattville, Ala.—Powerful running back Kamryn Pettway says that he rushed his first decision when he committed to the Florida State Seminoles, but he doesn't plan on making the same mistake the second time around. Now back open following a recent visit to see the Auburn Tigers, Pettway says for him it was just about thinking things over again.

"I really rushed the decision," Pettway tells Inside The Auburn Tigers. "I got a little too excited about my first big offer and I just committed too early. I want to look at everyone again."

Adding new offers from Georgia and Kentucky this week, Pettway now has five total offers with Auburn, Florida State and South Alabama also on board. He says while he doesn't know much about the Bulldogs and Wildcats yet, he's excited about adding the new schools to his list.

"I was excited about both of those offers," Pettway says. "I have to visit to see how I like the schools and the environment. I also need to get to know the coaches better."

A visitor to Auburn in January, Pettway was back on the Plains for a recent Junior Day and came away with the offer from the Tigers he had been waiting on. Now that he's gotten an opportunity to know the coaches and get a feel for the Tigers the physical back says there is plenty to like about Auburn moving forward.

"I like the facilities a lot," Pettway says. "They have a very nice indoor facility and a nice weight room. I like the coaches a lot and they make me feel comfortable. They sat down and talked with him and told me I could call them anytime I need something. They just make me feel real comfortable."

Pettway is one of several players expected to visit Auburn this weekend unofficially. Also expected in include former Prattville safety Derrick Moncrief from Mississippi Gulf Coast, safety C.J. Hampton from Meridian (Miss.) High, linebacker Detric Dukes from Tucker (Ga.), and defensive tackle Dontavius Russell from Carrolton, Ga.
