"Auburn is at the top of my list right now," Mitchell tells Inside The Auburn Tigers. "It's a great school. The way they are planning on using me in their offense is all that I could ask for.
"I have just been thinking about things lately," he adds. "My dad told me I needed to start getting my top schools down and placing them where I want them to be. Auburn is just as the top right now."
Right behind Auburn for the tight end/H-Back recruit is the Florida Gators. Another team that extended an early offer to Mitchell, the Gators are a team he has seen in person and he likes what Coach Will Muschamp and staff have told him about his possible future in Gainesville.
"They are kind of in a race right now," Mitchell says. "Auburn is number one and Florida is right behind. Florida is a good school. The way they are planning on using me is kind of the same way Auburn is talking about."
With Florida State coming onboard with one of his latest offers, Mitchell now has double-digit offers from teams such as Kentucky, Mississippi State, Duke and Tulane also on the list. Seeing his recruiting take off in recent weeks, Mitchell says that he's just enjoying it at the moment.
"It kind of motivates me," Mitchell says. "It makes me want more so I just work hard every day to get more and more."
Currently 6-3, 210 after playing basketball for Opelika over the winter, Mitchell says that he plans to play next season around 220 or 225 for the Bulldogs next season. Playing both ways for Coach Brian Blackmon's Bulldogs as both a tight end and linebacker, Mitchell also lines up at running back in short yardage situations and led the team with 14 rushing touchdowns last year. He also added 26 receptions for 365 yards as a receiver and is expected to play offense on the next level as a tight end/H-Back.
Mitchell says he plans to make his decision sometime before his first game next fall at Opelika.
