"We were just walking along and going through the tour and Coach Hand pulled me aside and told me about the offer. I was really surprised by it. We were just moving through the day, so I did not see it coming. It was very exciting."
Carr is a 6-foot-5, 295 pound lineman out of Gadsden (Ala.) Southside and he plays both sides of the ball some there, but he was offered to play offensive line by the Commodores.
He has a lot of interest in Vandy early on.
"I do not have a leader or anything yet, but Vanderbilt really helped themselves with the offer. Academics are a big part of Vanderbilt, but I really like Coach James Franklin and I think they are a school on the rise in the SEC. Coach Hand is great too and I like the direction the coaches there are taking the program."
He likes those two schools too.
"I have been around Auburn a lot because my dad has season tickets, but I got to go over, meet the new staff, and see some things on the visit. I like Coach Horton, he is my recruiter, and Coach Grimes is good too. I am interested in seeing how they play this year. It seems like the new staff is good.
"At Georgia, I really like Coach Friend. The atmosphere at Georgia is good and it is like a family over there."
His first offer is in and he is feeling good right now.
"I just see my hard work paying off," he said. "I am just thankful. God has been good to me and I am going to keep working."
