Talented TE Makes Surprise Visit To Auburn

One of the nation's top tight ends Koda Martin stopped by Auburn to check out the Tigers on Thursday.

Manvel, Tex.—Rated the #11 tight end in the country by Scout.com, 6-5, 235 Koda Martin made a surprise visit to check out the Auburn Tigers on Thursday along with his family. Spending time with Coach Gus Malzahn and the rest of the staff, Martin says that he enjoyed getting to see what Auburn was all about.

"My sister had a club volleyball tournament in Atlanta so we were coming through," Martin says. "She was meeting with the volleyball coaches at Auburn so I couldn't pass up an opportunity to stop by. I got to check out the facilities and meet the coaches a little bit. It was nice. It's a beautiful campus and the stadium was awesome. The facilities are great. The coaches are good guys too."

Recently with a top five of Alabama, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, LSU and Baylor, Martin has added an offer from Auburn since that time and says the SEC is definitely a place that is enticing for a kid growing up in Texas because of the success of the league on the field and in the NFL.

"I have offers from a lot of really great programs," Martin says. "This (Auburn) is a great program as well. It's a great school. One of my dad's friends Jeff Grimes used to coach there so I know a little bit about it. It's definitely a great school and it was awesome to stop by."

"He's a really good guy," Martin says. "He was really friendly. I was honored that he let me in his office after showing up on the spur of the moment. He's a great guy and a great coach. It was good to get to stop through there."

Martin is planning to make a decision before his senior season begins so he can focus and not have too many distractions in the 2013 season.
