Cam-Like Sophomore Enjoys Auburn Trip

A player that has the tools to be a big-time success on the next level, talented 2015 quarterback Kelly Bryant is already drawing comparisons to a former Heisman winner at Auburn.

Abbeville, S.C.—A 6-4, 200 quarterback who has the ability to pressure defenses with his arm and legs, talented class of 2015 prospect Kelly Bryant has already made a name for himself in the Palmetto State with early offers from both Clemson and South Carolina despite still being a sophomore at Abbeville High.

Leading his team to a state title as a freshman, Bryant is a physically-gifted quarterback who already reminds some of a young Cam Newton. It's no surprise the big quarterback says that was a name he heard often on his trip to Auburn, a trip that wound up being an enjoyable one for Bryant and his family.

"It was a great experience being my first time at Auburn," Bryant says. "I got to meet with Coach (Rhett) Lashlee, Coach (Gus) Malzahn and Coach (Charlie) Harbison, who is my recruiter for Auburn. I enjoyed my time down there.

"Coach Malzahn just really talked about his past and where he's been," he adds. "He also talked about what he expects out of his coaches. Coach Lashlee is the quarterback coach and he talked to me about the quarterbacks that have been through Auburn. The produce good quarterbacks."

Getting to watch as Auburn put on the pads for the first time, Bryant says he was in awe at how fast the Tigers ran the offense in practice. Never satisfied with the pace of practice, Malzahn is known for producing big numbers on offense and it's a system that Bryant says is exciting to watch.

"I got to check out practice," Bryant says. "The pace they had and what Coach Malzahn wants them to run is a shock, but I like it though. They like to put the ball in their best players' hands and I like that."

Waiting on an offer from Auburn, Bryant is going to be a busy guy in the next five months as he prepares for his junior year at Abbeville. Heading to Georgia for their spring game next weekend, Bryant says he plans to camp at Georgia, Georgia Tech, Clemson and South Carolina in addition to Auburn next summer.
