The 6-3, 213-pound class of 2014 outside linebacker prospect from Hillcrest High attended Auburn's recent junior day and noted he enjoyed the experience.
"It was great," he said. "I really loved the practice with the fast tempo. The coaches are enthusiastic and I really clicked with that.
"The coaches know what they are talking about," Holcombe added. "They get personal with the players. It is a good atmosphere to be around."
A starter since his sophomore season, Holcombe said he made 120-plus tackles as a junior with three sacks and one pass interception.
While at Auburn he toured the campus, checked out the facilities and looked at AU's engineering program.
So far his only scholarship offer is from Jacksonville State. He said that he would like to get one from Coach Gus Malzahn's Tigers. "I love the football," he said of Auburn." I love the SEC. I think it would be a great place to play."
In addition to playing football, Holcombe is a centerfielder for the Hillcrest baseball team.
