Coach Flo's Tigers Add Spring Period Commit

The Auburn women's basketball team received good news on the recruiting front on Friday.

Niceville, Fla.--Coach Terri Williams-Flournoy's Tigers picked up a verbal commitment from Northwest Florida State College guard Kiana Parker on Friday.

The five-foot-nine sophomore announced that she will sign with the Auburn women's basketball team, choosing the Tigers over Clemson, Georgia, Alabama and others.

"Kiana is a combo guard who did an outstanding job for us," said Coach Patrick Harrington, who noted she averaged 13 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game. "She played point guard for us this season and she played two-guard as a freshman."

The coach noted that Parker was a key player in the team's run into the national quarter-finals while posting a 27-5 record. "She is an outstanding defensive player," he said.

The guard, who made 108 steals as a sophomore, earned second team All-Panhandle Conference honors as a freshman and first team status as a sophomore. She was also named to the All-State team.
