Big Cat Visit Has AU In Top Two For 4-Star WR

A visit to Auburn for Big Cat Weekend has the Tigers in the hunt for talented wide receiver Shaquille Davidson.

One of the top wide receivers in the South, four-star prospect Shaquille Davidson from Gaffney (S.C.) High took his first-ever visit to Auburn over the weekend to take part in Big Cat Weekend V on the Plains. Following the trip and getting an opportunity to meet Coach Gus Malzahn and his staff, Davidson says the Tigers made a big move up his list.

"I had a good time down there," Davidson says. "It was kind of a different day, much different than everyone else's junior day. I had to compete and I like to compete. I had fun. I really liked it down there.

"I can put it like this, they are in my top six right now," he adds. "I would say Auburn, South Carolina, LSU, Ohio State, North Carolina and Florida State are my top group."

Even though he says his list still includes six schools, Davidson notes that two have worked their way to the top for him at the moment as he heads into the summer months before his senior season.

"My top two are Auburn and South Carolina," Davidson says. "At South Carolina I like the coaching staff and how they recruit me. It's really the same for both schools. I wouldn't say they have an order, but those two are at the top."

Having the opportunity to sit down with Coach Dameyune Craig and learn more about the Tigers' offense, Davidson says he really likes what they're going to do on that side of the ball and believes it's a good fit for him.

"I like the offense and the way they run things," Davidson says. "It's just the coaches. They are nice guys. I can't really explain it. I really like Coach Craig. He's really down to earth. He really tells you how it's going to be and how he wants you to work."

Davidson says he plans to cut his list down to a final three or four sometime during his football season this fall and doesn't have a timetable yet for a final decision.
