Physical Linebacker Talks Big Cat, Recruiting

Talented linebacker prospect Gavin Bryant discusses Big Cat Weekend, his recruiting and much more.

Jackson, Ala.—A physical linebacker prospect who continues to see his recruiting take off after a solid junior year, 6-1, 225-pound Gavin Bryant was one of two dozen players on hand for Big Cat Weekend on the Auburn campus last weekend.

Making his second trip to the Plains this spring, Bryant says it was another great experience for him as he continues to learn more about the new coaching staff.

"This visit was different because we got to talk a lot and talk to different coaches," he says. "We got to talk to the other recruits and spend time with them.

"I was talking to my coach the other day and they are trying to get me to commit somewhere," he adds. "They really like me at Auburn. I have been up there and I have really got a feel for the environment. I have kind of moved them up. They are in my top two or three schools right now."

A hard hitter for the Aggies on defense, Bryant racked up 110 tackles and eight sacks in 2012 and is poised for even bigger things this season as Jackson looks to win a state title. Getting offer after offer as teams had a chance to see him on the field for spring practice, he says he's currently just taking it all in and is in no rush to make a decision at the moment.

"Kentucky, Alabama, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Florida and Miami are in my top group," Bryant says of his favorites in addition to Auburn. "I have offers from all of them.

"It's kind of crazy," he adds. "I never thought it would be like this. I guess the work I have put in during the offseason has paid off. I'm not going to rush things right now. I'm going to look at everybody."
