Big Cat Visitor Doss Ready To Narrow Focus

Talented quarterback prospect Kendrick Doss discusses Big Cat Weekend at Auburn, his plans for a decision, his favorites, and much more.

Florence, Ala.—A talented quarterback who has gotten bigger and stronger since last season, Kendrick Doss has plans to make his decision before his senior year at Florence High School. Recently he was one of two dozen prospects on hand for Big Cat Weekend on the Plains and while he had visited Auburn several times before, Doss says the most recent trip really stood out.

"It was fantastic," Doss says. "I really enjoyed myself. There were a lot of activities. I thought it was going to be like another junior day, but really it wasn't. I got to meet with a lot of Auburn commitments and talked to a lot of players. I really enjoyed myself.

"The thing that stood out to me is that it was more relaxed," he adds. "You didn't feel any pressure at all. It was more like a family thing, just going down to have a good time."

Spending time talking with Gus Malzahn and offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee as well as bonding with several of the current Auburn commitments including Joshua Casher and Tre Williams, Doss says he has a good feel for the Tigers at the moment and they are definitely in the hunt with him.

"They are in a good spot right now," Doss says. "I really like Auburn. They are in there. I would like to try to have a decision made sometime during the summer."

Recently adding an offer from Nebraska, Doss is looking to build on a strong junior season after he threw for 1,743 yards with 16 touchdowns and five interceptions. He also added 1,200 yards on the ground with 21 rushing touchdowns.

Now getting closer to making his decision, Doss says he is still looking at several of his top offers as he prepares for the summer. Hoping to get things done before the Falcons open their season on Aug. 30 at Gadsden City, the athletic quarterback notes that he's got a few favorites and now the process begins to get down to one.

"Auburn is at the top," Doss says. "They're up there along with Ole Miss, Tennessee, Mississippi State, Georgia Tech and Nebraska. They're all up there.

"Me and my coach have been talking about narrowing things down," he adds. "I'll probably have a decision sometime this summer because I don't want to bring it into the season."
