"It was pretty cool," Storey tells Inside The Auburn Tigers. "Coach Lashlee contacted my coach and they told me that if we were down that way to swing by because they had a camp going on. I went out and threw pretty good and they obviously liked me.
"It's a great program," he adds. "Two great programs offered me this week and we're pretty excited about that. I know I just have to get back and keep working to be the best quarterback I can be for my high school team and whichever team picks me up in the future."
Making the trip to Auburn was something that made sense for Storey and his family considering the connections with several of the guys on the staff. Storey's dad played football at Arkansas and was a teammate of Malzahn and later Horton while with the Razorbacks. He says that made things very nice when they got to sit down and talk.
"It's pretty neat," Storey says. "Obviously, my dad and Coach Malzahn have known each other for a long time. He came down here for the first time when I was in the eighth grade and we just built a relationship on that. It has gotten better and better each year.
"The staff is great," he adds. "They have a lot of good coaches on the staff. I'm familiar with a lot of them with Coach Horton coming from Arkansas and also Coach Malzahn and Coach Lashlee. I have a pretty good relationship with all of them."
Despite playing on an injured knee that hampered him from the fourth week on last season, Storey put up huge numbers as a sophomore. Playing in a wide-open offensive attack, Storey threw for 4,400 yards and 48 touchdowns in 2012.
