Auburn Expecting Loaded Sunday Camp

Coach Gus Malzahn's first Senior Camp is expected to be a big one on Sunday with talented prospects on both sides of the ball expected on the Plains.

Auburn, Ala.--The first senior camp for Coach Gus Malzahn and his new staff at Auburn takes place on Sunday and a large group of talented prospects is expected to show their stuff on the Plains led by a big contingent from inside the state.

Locally the high schools are loaded with top talent and many of those players will be camping on Sunday including Auburn commitment Jakell Mitchell from Opelika along with safety teammate Malcolm Buggs. Expected to be top 2015 prospects, center Drew Kyser, linebacker Roy Yancey, and defensive end Quandeski Whitlow from Opelika will also be taking part in the camp.

From Auburn High School, linebacker Darian Yancey is adding offers and is hoping to earn one from the Tigers with a solid performance at the camp. He'll be joined by 2016 quarterback prospect Bradley Northcutt. The strong-armed sophomore is expected to start for Coach Tim Carter this season. Dadeville has a pair of Tigers who will be in for the camp as well with speedy C.J. Tolbert and big 2015 defensive end Anfernee Jennings (6-5, 225) making the trip down Highway 280.

Jackson High is loaded with prospects and two of the best are expected to be in Auburn on Sunday. A quarterback with loads of talent, Matthew Jordan is getting plenty of attention from schools as is linebacker Gavin Bryant. Just up the road in Demopolis a pair of teammates are also hoping to get an offer from Auburn in safety Demetrius Kemp and defensive end Tyler Merriweather.

Montgomery will be well represented on Sunday as well with a trio of Carver standouts ready to show what they can do. Wide receivers Charles Standberry and Landy Capetillo along with safety Draequon Murphy all have offers with Murphy committed to Arkansas State.

Coached by former Auburn staff member Jimmy Perry, 2015 standouts Kenny Thomas (TE) and Jalen Harris (OL) along with 2016 linebacker Michael Robinson (LB) will be making the trip from St. James School. Speedy running back Herman McKenzie from Tallassee is also expected to take part in the camp as is 2016 offensive line prospect Tyler Pritchett from Calera.

A pair of linemen named Tyler looking for offers from Auburn will be on hand Sunday also. An upcoming senior, Tyler Jones from Albertville plays defensive line, but could get a look on the offensive line on the next level. A 2015 prospect, Tyler Carr from Southside High near Gadsden grew up following Auburn and if offered by the Tigers would likely commit.

Several prospects from North Alabama looking for an offer from the Tigers will have that chance to earn oneSunday. Defensive back Quade Alexander and offensive linemen Cole Hardin and Daniel Keith from Florence are expected to be in attendance as is fullback Austin Mansell from Walker High in Jasper.

From outside the state commitment Nick Ruffin from Atlanta is making the trip over as is offensive lineman Terrone Prescod from Columbia High in Decatur. Prescod earned an offer from Auburn this week and could pull the trigger following his return trip to the Plains.

Other talented prospects from outside of Alabama expected to visit include tight end Chris Herndon from Norcross (Ga.), defensive end Michael Barnett from Ridgeville, S.C., 2015 QB Tyler Queen from Kennesaw, Ga., 2016 OL Sean Bailey from Cumming, Ga., linebacker Zach Wary from Rogers, Ark., 2015 linebacker Sherrod Pittman, 2015 QB DeAndre Johnson and defensive end Spencer Williams from First Coast High in Jacksonville, Fla., 2015 QB Kevin Johnson from Pace Academy in Atlanta and safety Darrion Owens from Oakleaf High in Orange Park, Fla.
