Massive 2015 OL Prospect One To Watch

Big offensive line prospect Kenny Thomas could be one to watch in the 2015 recruiting class.

Montgomery, Ala.—One of the biggest prospects at Sunday's one-day football camp on the Auburn campus, massive offensive tackle Kenny Thomas from St. James School was impressive in drills and showed good feet for someone who still has two years of high school left.

At 6-6, 340 pounds Thomas plays for former Auburn staff member Jimmy Perry as well as former Opelika High school coach Spence McCracken at St. James. Getting his first taste of going head to head against other top prospects, Thomas says it was a great experience for him.

"It went real nice," Thomas says. "There was a lot of great competition out there. There were a lot of good players all around. It was very good for me.

"It was real fun for me," he adds. "It was kind of fun knowing that I'm not the only big guy in my class. It was great to work with them."

Saying that he needs to work on his pass sets and get quicker off the ball against pass rushers, Thomas also says that staying low is something he struggles with at this stage of his development. That's not a surprise considering his massive frame, but his athleticism makes him a very interesting prospect. Because of that he got plenty of instruction from Auburn OL Coach J.B. Grimes at the camp and came away impressed by the veteran coach.

"I love working with Coach Grimes (Auburn offensive line coach J.B. Grimes)," Thomas notes. "He's a little guy, but he's hyper and never quiet. He was a real good teacher."

Already hearing from Auburn, Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Vanderbilt, Tennessee and several other schools, Thomas is expected to be a top prospect in the 2015 recruiting class. One of the standouts at the camp along with fellow 2015 prospect Tyler Carr, Thomas is a name you can expect to hear more from down the road.
