A three-year letterman that has battled through injuries for much of his career, Ford earned high praise from the new defensive coaching staff for his work ethic in spring practice. He's expected to be one of the leaders on defense for the Tigers in 2013.
"I'm very surprised to hear that I'm on the Bednarik Award list," Ford said. "This just makes me want to solidify my qualifications and work even harder to show that Auburn should be represented on this list.
"It's been a long journey for me and I owe any success to my strength coaches, football coaches, and teammates for being patient with me while I developed," he adds. "I'm very thankful for this new responsibility and the opportunity we have this season."
Arriving at Auburn from St. Clair County High as an undersized defensive end, Ford has worked tirelessly to become big and physical enough to play the position in the SEC. Entering his senior season Ford has 64 career tackles and 10 sacks.
