Talented 2016 Back Talks Auburn Camp, Offer

Running back Shakur Chisolm talks about his Auburn camp experience and having an offer from the Tigers.

Barnwell, S.C.--Expected to be one of the top running backs in the nation for the 2016 class after rushing for more than 1,000 yards last season as a freshman, Shakur Chisolm was one of the top players at his position at the July football prospects camp in Auburn.

Showing good athleticism and balance, Chisolm got to see the campus and also spend time around the coaching staff. Working with Auburn running backs coach Tim Horton, the young back point out that everything about the trip was what he was looking for on the AU campus.

"It was good," he said. "They showed me the new dorms and showed a lot of love to me. I'm real interested in coming back and seeing the school and how it is.

"I like how he breaks down everything," he added of Horton. "I would love to come play for him."

Already hearing from Auburn, Georgia and South Carolina even though he's just heading into his sophomore year of high school, Shakur said he already had an offer on the table before the trip and it came from the Tigers.

"Auburn offered me," Shakur said. "It's incredible. Most people say that you start with Division III offers and move up. For Auburn to be my first offer is incredible. Auburn is very high on my list and especially because of Cam Newton. I really like how he played."

With three seasons of high school football remaining and still plenty of offers to come for this talented sophomore-to-be, Chisolm said he's not going to rush into anything and is just going to enjoy the ride.

"I'm just going to keep my options open," Chisolm added. "We'll see how it goes from there."
