"It was real nice," Washington said. "I definitely wanted to get down there and see what they had to offer. It was live. I like what Coach Malzahn is doing with the program. It's exciting.
"They walked me through the details (of the offense) and some of the things I would be good at," he added. "He told me I could offer something to the program and be real good."
A 6-5, 215 receiver that is rated as a tight end by Scout.com, Washington has the ability to line up in the slot or even outside in Auburn's offense. Along with the ability to put his hand on the ground if needed, Washington said that versatility is one of the things Auburn likes about him.
"That's real exciting being able to play all the different positions," Washington said. "Coach Malzahn is real good at what he does so that's real nice."
Saying that he's still solidly committed to LSU at this point, Washington noted that he's still continuing to look around to make sure his decision is the right one. That led him to Auburn to see things and he said after getting a feel for the program he wants to see it again.
"LSU wants me at both tight end and the slot," Washington said. "Cam Cameron has a lot in store for me. We'll see what they do this year. I'm real solid with my commitment to LSU, but I'm still looking around.
"It (Auburn) is nice," he added. "I could see myself playing there. It's real nice. I want to get my mom down there and visit a few more schools and go from there."
Washington said he should have a final decision sometime around signing day.
