Living up to the hype

Dionte Mullins lived up to the hype as a freshman last season at Miami Gulliver Prep. This rising sophomore already holds several BCS offers.

Dionte Mullins is a standout for the 2016 class. While he may be a new name to some he's a local legend in south Florida. He was a Pop Warner star who had a spectacular freshman campaign last fall for Miami Gulliver Prep.

"Boy did he have a great freshman season," said Earl Sims, Gulliver Prep's coach. "This kid is a dog, that's all I can say. He can play in this ear. He could have played in my era. He could have played in my daddy's era. He came to us and was as good as advertised. Dionte Mullins is a worker and a kid that just really wants it."

Just how good is Mullins? This rising sophomore already holds verbal scholarship offers from Clemson, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, West Virginia, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh and others.

"Dionte is already 6-foot-0, 185-pounds," Sims said. "He has amazing jumping ability and his hands are ridiculous. His ball skills are terrific and he's a quick learner. Dionte is a football junkie with great work habits. He even blocks down field.

"Every coach that came through here knew about him. We had like 70 to 80 schools come through. They all couldn't wait to see this guy. This kid is a potential Sunday player."
