Auburn On Top For 2015 DB After Visit

2015 defensive back prospect Ben Edwards discusses his visit to Auburn to check out the Tigers' win over Mississippi State.

Jacksonville, Fla.--A top 2015 defensive back prospect that already has offers from several top programs, Ben Edwards from Trinity Christian made a visit to Auburn early in the summer to check out one of his early favorites.

On Saturday he made a return trip to the Plains to see Auburn take on the Mississippi State Bulldogs in the SEC opener. This time he came with his parents to let them see why he is so high on the Tigers. Following his chance to see Jordan-Hare Stadium at night and watch the Tigers on the field, Edwards said it was everything he hoped for.

"It was crazy," Edwards told Inside The Auburn Tigers. "The fans love their team. They were hyped the whole game. The atmosphere was great. It was a good game and I had a good time."

Watching closely as the Auburn defense recovered from a slow start to shut down Mississippi State in the fourth quarter, Edwards said he really liked the play of the safeties and could see himself in that role under Charlie Harbison.

"I watched number nine Jermaine Whitehead because that's the position I would be playing if I were to go there" Edwards said. "I like how they are using him. He plays the same position I play in high school. I watched him a lot and I liked what I saw."

With offers from Auburn, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Penn State, Stanford, Vanderbilt and several other programs, Edwards said at the moment the Tigers are on top following his experience over the weekend. Planning to check out his other two favorites in the coming week, Edwards noted that he'll have a chance to make even more comparisons after that time.

"They are still on top right now," Edwards said of Auburn. "They are still on top after that game. I just love them even more. My parents like the school. The campus is nice. Everything is nice right now.

"Georgia Tech, North Carolina and Auburn are my top three right now," Edwards said. "Auburn is a little bit in front right now, but I'm going to Georgia Tech next week and North Carolina the week after that."
