The son of a former Auburn player and with his mom a student recruiting host while on the Plains, talented wide receiver Myron Burton has definitely heard more than his fair share of War Eagles during his life. Even with all that knowledge about Auburn he said in the end it was a decision he came to on his own, but with a little help from his parents too.
"I've got an Auburn legacy going on, but they told me it was my decision at the end of the day," Burton said. "Of course there was a little pressure going on and some slick comments here or there, but at the end of the day it was my decision where I wanted to go and Auburn was my home."
A letterman on the 1993 undefeated Auburn team as a defensive lineman, Myron Burton got some action for the Tigers in one of the biggest seasons in school history. While he was unable to visit on Saturday with his son and wife, it didn't take him long to get the news his son said.
"He told me to go ahead and do it," the Peachtree Ridge High standout said.
Joining good friends Stanton Truitt and Nick Ruffin as an Auburn commitment, Burton said that he's just excited about the direction of the program he's joining. From the coaching staff to the offensive system to the recruiting class, he said everything is trending up for the Tigers.
"They are honest men," Burton said. "They tell me what they are planning on doing before they even do it. They have shown me in everything that's going on, we're going to be pretty good. With everybody they're bringing in and what they're grooming the program to be, we're going to be really good."
