Pat's Picks: Coach Dye Predicts Week 13 Games

College Football Hall of Fame coach Pat Dye writes about this week's Southeastern Conference games and other matchups around the country.

This week's college football schedule doesn't feature a lot of marquee type games, but there are several interesting matchups in the Southeastern Conference and in other conferences.

Coach Gus Malzahn's Auburn Tigers are off this Saturday as they have an extra time to prepare for their Iron Bowl showdown next week, but the other SEC teams are in action. Here is a look at some interesting games outside the league.

Wisconsin at Minnesota--The Badgers have played solid football all season while Minnesota is having one of its better performances in recent years. This could a close game. I am going with Wisconsin because of more overall talent.

BYU at Notre Dame--Both have posted impressive wins this year and both have 7-3 records. It should be a game worth watching. I am picking the Irish to win a close one.

Arizona State at UCLA--The Sun Devils can clinch a spot in the Pac-12 championship game with a win over UCLA, but I think the Bruins are going to defend their home turf and win this battle of Top 20 teams.

Baylor at Oklahoma State--This is a matchup of Top 10 teams and should be exciting with plenty of big plays and points. I know Oklahoma State is playing really well right now, but I have been impressed with Baylor. The Bears have been good defensively and terrific on offense. Baylor is 9-0 and I don't have any reason to believe they aren't about to improve to 10-0 although I?believe the Cowboys will make this a close game.

Looking at this week's SEC games:

Texas A&M at LSU--This should be an entertaining game in Baton Rouge featuring two of the better quarterbacks in the country. I like LSU's chances of winning, but Zach Mettenberger needs to be 100 percent physically and I?am not sure that he is. I am still going with the home team because the weak link at Tiger Stadium will be Texas A&M's defense.

Kentucky at Georgia--The Bulldogs will bounce back against the Wildcats, who are 0-6 in the SEC. Kentucky should not be able to keep this game close with Georgia's huge talent advantage.

Mississippi State at Arkansas--I think Mississippi State has the better team, but the Bulldogs' top two quarterbacks are beat up and questionable this week so I am going with the Razorbacks to win in Little Rock.

Georgia Southern at Florida--The Gators are really struggling, but should be able to handle a 6-4 team from the Southern Conference.

Vanderbilt at Tennessee--The Commodores won last year in Nashville and should be able to do it again against a Tennessee team that has just four wins.

Chattanooga at Alabama--The Tide will have an easy warmup game for its regular season finale at Auburn.

Coastal Carolina at South Carolina--The visitors are 10-1, but are moving up in weight class so it is doubtful they can go the distance with Coach Spurrier's South Carolina Gamecocks.

Missouri at Ole Miss--I have been impressed with how the Tigers are playing after coming into the season flying under the radar. Ole Miss has done good things, too, and could make this a tough game for Missouri, but I predict the visitors will get out of town with their 10th win of the season while holding on to their lead in the SEC East race.
