"Roc" Says Auburn Official Visit Is "Great"

Five-star running back Racean "Roc" Thomas talks about his weekend at Auburn.

Oxford, Ala.--Five-star running back Racean Thomas has been committed to the Auburn Tigers since last summer, but recently Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin made a trip to Oxford to see the talented back. Following his official visit to Auburn over the weekend Thomas said he's not planning any additional visits and is firmly committed to the Tigers.

"Since way back when I have been solid pretty much," Thomas said. "I haven't really been open to anybody else really. When I go there I get that home feeling really. It's family around there with everybody saying War Eagle. It's just great."

Spending time with Tre Williams, DeShaun Davis, Justin Thornton and the rest of the 2014 class in for the weekend, Thomas said for him it was all about spending time together and continuing to build an even stronger bond heading into next fall.

"It was great," Thomas said. "We had a great time. We got to bond with our players and future teammates. It was great to have a good time with them.

"It was just pretty much letting us know how it's going to be in the future," he adds. "Kind of preparing us for the future. We just tried to take advantage of it and have a lot of fun."

This year's class has two players that made the decision to flip from Alabama to Auburn, defensive backs Stephen Roberts and Kalvaraz Bessent. Thomas said that and what they have been able to do on both sides of the ball shows what this staff is all about.

"They are really doing a great job of getting players," Thomas said. "It really shows that we're building something there. Everytime we are sitting in the room and they show the video of them playing it just gives me chills. It's just great to see them do that."

Thomas was named Alabama's Mr. Football for the 2013 season.

Preparing to jump into Auburn's offensive plans immediately next season with the loss of Tre Mason to the NFL, Thomas said he likes what he hears from Gus Malzahn, Rhett Lashlee and the offensive staff.

"It was great," Thomas said of his visit with Malzahn. "He pretty much filled in my family on the things they haven't been told already. It was great because he's pretty much telling me when I get there I'll have the chance to make a big impact as a freshman. That's good to know that.

"Coach has been honest with me since day one," he adds. "I can come in and have a great impact. He's told me I can have the same role as Tre Mason and Corey Grant, like in a wildcat. He told me I could be the guy that doesn't really have to come out so they can put another guy in."
