Auburn Signee Profile: Dontavius Russell

One of the top defensive line prospects in the country has officially signed with the Tigers.

Auburn Signee: Dontavius Russell is a 6-3, 285 senior at Carrollton, Ga., High School where he was considered one of the top prospects in Georgia last season.

:Position/Scout Ranking: Rated a four-star prospect as the No. 12 defensive tackle prospect in the country.

Auburn's Main Competition: The University of Georgia where he was verbally committed. He re-opened his recruiting process in early December and chose the Tigers on Dec. 27th.

Dontavius Russell

Why Auburn Signed Him: Defensive linemen are a high priority for Gus Malzahn's 2014 class.

Quoting Russell: "He (defensive line coach Rodney Garner) told me that if I work hard then I would get playing time in the games because he rotates a lot of people. That's real good to know that as a freshman."

Worth Noting: The Under Armour All-American says that he has been a fan of Auburn football since he was young, something that made it easier for him to make the switch from UGA to AU.
