Position/Scout Ranking: He is rated four stars as the No. 17 defensive end prospect in the country.

Auburn's Main Competition: He chose Auburn over LSU, Texas A&M, Florida?and others.

Why Auburn Signed Him: His ability to rush the passer combined with his height make him a promising addition to the roster, especially with the Tigers making defensive ends a high priority in the 2014 class with the team having to replace seniors like Dee Ford, Craig Sanders, Nosa Eguae and Kenneth Carter.

Worth Noting: The defensive end, who played in the Offense-Defense All-American Game, is a prospect who may develop into a pro player, according to his high school coach who notes that Thornton has outstanding quickness.
