Ole Miss Commitment Checks Out Tigers

2015 offensive line prospect Marquel Harrell talks about visiting the Auburn Tigers.

Fairburn, Ga.--Coaches Gus Malzahn and J.B. Grimes are putting a big emphasis on offensive line recruiting for the 2015 signing class with the Auburn Tigers signing just four total players up front in the last two classes. Expected to sign four or five linemen this year the interest from players checking out the Tigers is already extremely high early in the process.

A standout at Creekside (Ga.) High and already with multiple Division I offers, Marquel Harrell wanted to get a feel for the Tigers. Getting a visit of the Auburn facilities along with Creekside assistant and former Auburn standout linebacker Travis Williams and several teammates, Harrell said it was a good trip overall.

"It was a great experience coming to Auburn and seeing the facilities, the stadium, and things like that," Harrell said. "I loved talking to the coaches, the offensive coordinator (Rhett Lashlee) and the offensive line coach (Grimes). It was good.

"He's lively," he added of Grimes. "Real lively. He's energetic. That's what I like in a coach because I want him to be able to talk and communicate with us, not just sit back and tell us to do this or that. He's got to be able to move with us."

Currently a commitment to the Ole Miss Rebels, Harrell said he owes it to himself to check everyone out right now. That means taking a closer look at several schools, including another visit to Auburn later this spring. Still waiting on an offer from the Tigers, he added that would be big if and when it comes.

"I'm committed to Ole Miss, but I'm still reviewing all my options," Harrell said. "I want to see where I fit in and stuff like that.

"I can say they are top five," he added. "I would like to wait a couple of months before I say who all is in there, but Auburn will be one of them."
