"I would say Auburn is probably my early favorite," Archibald tells Inside The Auburn Tigers. "I was blown away by the facilities and I love the campus and the hospitality was just great.
"It's kind of wide open still," he added. "I still have to take some visits, but Auburn definitely stands out early."
Taking the trip along with his mother, Archibald said he had a good idea about the Auburn program already because she was a graduate of Auburn. Seeing things for himself gave him an even better feel for the program, campus and city however.
"The visit went real well," Archibald said. "We got up there Friday night for the junior day and got to see the campus and see the facilities and meet all the coaches. It was just a great experience
"I have a good relationship with the tight ends coach (Scott Fountain) and I knew Coach (Gus) Malzahn as well," he added. "I knew a little bit about the school because my mom went there. I learned a lot about the facilities and Auburn football and the campus is all about."
Something Malzahn has already shown in his time as a coach is the willingness to play guys early. Throw in the fact that he loves to play a multitude of players in different roles in his offensive system and Bowman said it creates the perfect storm for him.
"I think that is really intriguing to me," Archibald said. "There are times when they'll run three tight ends at a time. They do a whole lot. When I go to college I want to play football. I don't want to sit for a few years, I want to play as soon as I can. I think Auburn will give me a great opportunity to do that."
Still wanting to visit Miami and Kentucky and having already visited Florida, Archibald said he definitely plans to visit Auburn again over the summer before making an early decision. He added that he hopes to be an early high school graduate.
