"I liked it," Colbert said. "I like the facilities, the coaches, and the atmosphere. The coaches were fun to be around and they were good guys. They pulled me aside and me and Coach Malzahn talked for about an hour.
"We actually got to ride with him in his truck from the stadium. That was cool and his wife was pretty cool too because she interacts with the players. She made a very good first impression."
An athletic linebacker at 6-3 and just over 200 pounds, Colbert is a player that is used all over the field on defense for Griffin High. Being recruited as a possible ‘star' in Auburn's defensive scheme, he said that would be an easy transition for him because it's similar to what he does now for his team.
"It's going to be easy for me," Colbert said. "That's basically what I do now, outside linebacker that blitzes sometimes and moves back to the secondary. I can adapt to it."
With offers from Auburn, Clemson, Georgia Tech, North Carolina and Louisville already with more to follow, Colbert said he doesn't have any plans to make an early decision but following his trip to the Plains the Tigers are definitely in the mix.
"After getting a full tour around they made a good impression," Colbert said. "They are up there in the rankings for me. "It's Clemson, basically just the schools I have visited so far. Right now I'm just going by the offers they have given me. I have only been to Auburn and Clemson. I have been to Alabama and Georgia, but that was in the past before they offered me."
