Sims Waiting On Auburn Offer

Jarmarkus Sims talks about his visit to Auburn for junior day and what an offer would mean for the Tigers.

Dothan, Ala.--A talented safety prospect that was close to pulling the trigger and committing to Kentucky before taking a visit to Auburn on Saturday, 6-1, 205 Jarmarkus Sims is now playing the waiting game after getting a closer look at the Tigers.

Friends with Auburn freshman defensive back Kamryn Melton, Sims got a first-hand look at the Auburn campus and facilities and also had the opportunity to spend time with Coach Gus Malzahn and assistants such as Charlie Harbison and Melvin Smith. With all that going on Sims said the visit couldn't have gone any better.

"I had a great time," Sims said. "I liked meeting the coaches. When I met Coach Cheese (Harbison) it felt like we could have a good bond if I go there. I'm just going to work hard and see where it gets me."

Athletic enough to play a true safety, but also physical enough to play in the box against the run, Sims is the type of player that Auburn is looking for in Coach Ellis Johnson's defense because of the versatility he brings to the table. With a friend already on the team and the fact that Auburn is close to home, Sims said putting it all together it puts the Tigers at the top of his list.

"I would have to say they are number one," Sims said. "It's just like home and I really like them. It's just like family there. It's a bond they build with you."

And if Auburn were to extend an offer?

"If I get the offer there is no doubt I'm going to commit," he said. "They told me I like my film and they're going to come check me out. They're going to start recruiting me hard."

Sims visited Auburn twice during the season, on hand for wins over Florida Atlantic and Georgia.
