Big D Lineman Discusses His Visit to Auburn

Class of 2015 football prospect Jauntavius Johnson attended Auburn's junior day.

Lincoln, Ala.--Jauntavius Johnson, one of the top performers at an Auburn football prospect camp last summer, returned to the AU campus last weekend for a junior day to get a better feel for Coach Gus Malzahn's program.

"It was a great junior day and I enjoyed the great atmosphere," the defensive tackle from Lincoln High School said. "We toured the campus and got to meet the coach (Malzahn) and enjoy things around the campus."

Johnson got plenty of attention from defensive line coach Rodney Garner when he camped at Auburn and the same thing was the case on the junior day visit. "That went good," he said. "He is the same good coach I have known. He is always going to push you to get the most out of you that you can get. He is a great guy."

Rated a three-star prospect by Scout.com, Johnson said he is seriously considering making a decision this summer before beginning his senior season.

"Auburn is a great school and a great place to be," he said, noting that he is very interested in the Tigers along with Mississippi State and Jacksonville State.

At 6-3, 335 pounds the defensive tackle notes that he is working on dropping weight for his senior season. "I have gotten too big," he said.

In addition to playing football at Lincoln, he just wrapped up his junior season on the basketball court. "I didn't start, but I was the team's sixth man," he said.
