Top 2016 DT Visits Auburn

Big Derrick Brown discusses his trip to Auburn and what he likes about the Tigers.

Buford, Ga.--Expected to be one of the top defensive tackles in Georgia for the 2016 recruiting class, Derrick Brown is already 6-4, 295 and still just 15 years old. With offers from many of the top programs in the country before he ever suits up for his junior season, Brown took the opportunity to check out one of the schools on his list Saturday when he visited Auburn.

Spending time with Auburn Coaches Gus Malzahn and Rodney Garner, he said getting back to the Plains was big for him and he really enjoyed getting to see things once again.

"It was nice," Brown said. "I got to go around and see all the facilities and go in the stadium and meet all the coaches. It was pretty nice. I love the atmosphere down there.

"It was actually my third time being down there," he added. "I came for the UGA and Alabama games last year. That was crazy, especially for the Alabama game when they were tearing the hedges and trying to get on the field."

A coach that got dramatic improvement out of his defensive line in his first season back at Auburn, Garner is someone Brown said he really enjoyed getting the chance to sit down and learn more about while on his trip.

"He's cool," Brown said. "Coach Garner is kind of like the people I grew up around. He's kind of like my uncles, that's who he reminds me of."

Not planning on making an early decision, Brown said at the moment he doesn't have any favorites in recruiting and wants to wait until his senior season before he makes his choice.
