SEC Baseball Recap: Week Three

Auburn dropped a series at home to Missouri over the weekend to fall out of the SEC lead heading into week four.

With a chance to get some separation in the SEC baseball race this week, the Auburn Tigers dropped a disappointing series at home to Missouri to fall a game behind Alabama and Mississippi State in the division after three weeks of league action.

Facing Samford on Tuesday night before a trip to face the Ole Miss Rebels following their sweep at the hands of Alabama, Coach Sunny Golloway's club will have its work cut out the next seven weeks of league play.

The biggest question remains at second base with senior Dan Glevenyak injured in Thursday night's loss to Missouri. With a back injury that could keep him out an extended period of time, Auburn may choose to move left fielder Jordan Ebert back to second base until Glevenyak can return. Connor Short is also an option at the position for the Tigers.

Player of the Week: Ebert continues his hot streak at the plate, going 9-18 for the week with three runs driven in and four runs scored in four games. Batting in the leadoff spot, Ebert has seen his average rise to .384 this season and he leads the team with 38 hits. Damek Tomscha hit over.400 for the week as did fellow senior Blake Austin and freshman Daniel Robert. Tomscha leads the team with a .395 average.

Pitcher of the Week: That honor goes to senior Jay Wade after three scoreless outings in four games last week. Holding the opposition to a batting average of just .091 in six and one/thirds innings, Wade picked up a save in Saturday's win over Missouri by throwing four scoreless innings and allowing just one hit.
