Pearl's Tigers will play the opening game of the second SEC/Big 12 Challenge with a road trip to face Texas Tech on Dec. 3rd in Lubbock.
The Tigers will also play a road game at Colorado of the Pac-12, but the date for that contest has yet to be set.
Pearl said to expect the Tigers to play a series of tough opponents on the road, teams that will make return trips to Auburn Arena in future seasons.
"I don't believe in waiting until you have the roster where you want it to be before scheduling challenging opponents," the coach told Inside the Auburn Tigers.
"I think it is important in the non-conference part of the schedule we bring in some powerful programs that our fans are looking forward to seeing," Pearl added.
"There is a tremendous opportunity and a great responsibility in representing the SEC in this challenge," Pearl said. "There are a handful of coaches that I would venture to say it would be an honor to coach against and Tubby Smith is one of them."
All of the games are scheduled to be televised on one of the ESPN networks. "The ability to showcase SEC basketball in this kind of inter-conference competition makes this a unique and exciting event for our coaches, student-athletes and fans," SEC Commissioner Mike Slive said.
