Thompson Named Freshman All-American

Keegan Thompson was named to the Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American team on Wednesday.

Following a superb first season with the Auburn Tigers freshman ace pitcher Keegan Thompson was selected to the Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American team on Wednesday. It his his second honor in the last two weeks following his being named to the SEC All-Freshman team last week.

Finishing the season with a 5-3 record with an ERA of just 2.01, fourth in the SEC, Thompson allowed opponents to hit just .192 against him in 89 2/3 innings of work. In addition he struck out 73 and walked just 23 batters this season.

Playing first base in addition to his duties on the mound, Thompson hit .244 with 13 RBI in 123 at-bats this season and had a stellar fielding percentage of .989.

Having one of his best performances of the year in the the series finale against Kentucky on May 11, Thompson was hit in the foot by a batted ball and fractured a bone to end his season.
