Malzahn's contract was extended for two years through the 2019 season and is worth a total of $3.85 million this season with an increase of $250,000 annually through 2019.
The new contract includes incentives such as playing in the national championship game ($300,000), winning the national title ($500,000) and playing in one of the top six bowl games ($200,000). Malzahn will also receive $140,000 annually over the next five years to offset his buyout to Arkansas State. Should Auburn elect to terminate Malzahn without cause the buyout would be $2,237,500 for each year remaining on his contract.
Coming back off his show-cause order by the NCAA, Pearl signed a contract that is worth $2.2 million this year with built-in raises of at least $100,000 per year through the 2020 season. The incentives in the contract could be worth as much as $600,00 if the Tigers were to win a national championship under the coach.
Some of the other incentives include $100,000 for an SEC regular-season championship, $50,000 for making the NCAA Tournament and $200,000 for the national title. He would also receive bonuses of $25,000 each of the next two seasons for winning at least 20 games and nine SEC games. There is also an attendance bonus built into Pearl's contract, paying him $50,000 if more half of Auburn's games are sold out.
Auburn defensive line coach Rodney Garner also got a raise, increasing his annual salary to $550,000 for a contract that runs through June 30, 2017. Garner will also receive an additional $50,000 for each year he's employed on Feb. 15. Those will be paid out in a lump sum at the end of his contract.
