Making that feat even more impressive is that he did it as an 185-pound middle linebacker and totaled 72 tackles.
Now up to 6-2, 212 pounds and growing, the 15-year-old from Central High School picked up his third scholarship offer from an SEC team when Auburn offered him following a strong performance at a football prospects camp on Saturday.
Benton is now a perfect three-for-three on getting scholarship offers following camp performances this year. He said that he believes he and several of his teammates are planning to hit the road for another camp at Florida State in addition to attending several seven-on-seven team events.
Asked about his Saturday in Auburn, Benton said, "I had a lot of fun at the camp. I liked the one-on-ones the best and they had a lot of good coaching."
While noting it is nice to already have three major college scholarship offers at such a young age, Benton said he is a long way from making a commitment or even coming up with a list of favorites.
