Burt Talks Summer; Top Four
Tallahassee (Fla.) Lincoln High School wide receiver John Burt is among the most highly recruited prospects in the nation for the class of 2015. The 6-foot-4 and 180-pound rising senior is focused on improving his game this summer. He also talks about the top four schools involved in his recruitment. "Recently I was in Baltimore for the Rivals Five-Star Challenge. It went really good. I got a chance to go up against some good guys and get a good look at how some of the other top receivers in the country are doing," said Burt of his experience against elite competition. Burt left Baltimore pleased with his showing but also wanting to improve his game before the start of his senior year. "I felt like I was right there with them. There are some things I need to work on this summer. Releases, being a better route runner and just working on fine tuning my routes and making sure they are real crisp," said Burt. The talented receiver plans on participating in The Opening later this summer. He may also make an unofficial visit to a PAC 12 school while on the west coast. "I am going to The Opening in Oregon. I might be going to USC but I am not really quite sure. The Opening is probably the only camp I will do this summer," Burt explained. Lincoln head football coach Yusef Shakir and Burt have both stated that a decision on his future college home could come before the start of the 2014 season. Burt now says that his decision could come during, or even after, the season but that he currently has four favorites. "My top four are Texas, Florida State, Auburn and Miami (Fla.)," said Burt on his top four. Miami received an unofficial visit from Burt earlier this spring. "I went to Miami over spring break. I had a chance to go down there and talk to the coaches and look around. It went good; I really like what they had down there. The coaches are real cool," said Burt of the Hurricanes. He also says he talks with Texas on a regular basis and just returned from a 7-on-7 camp at Florida State. "I am talking to Texas about every other week or so, just keeping in touch. I am probably going to take a visit to there towards the end of the summer. We were at Florida State and won the 7-on-7 tournament there this past weekend," said Burt. Burt says he will know when the time is right to announce the decision about where he will be going to college. "Just whenever I feel like I am ready. Just whenever it feels right," finished Burt.
