“I’m definitely looking for a place I’m comfortable,” Stanley said of his wish list. “Early playing time is a factor, too.”
Wanting to check out one of his finalists one more time before making his decision, Stanley made a trip to Auburn over the weekend to see the Tigers in action on the practice field. Spending time with Gus Malzahn, Rodney Garner as well as wide receiver coach Dameyune Craig, he said he enjoyed getting to see how they worked in practice and the pace lived up to advance billing.
“The visit was pretty good,” Stanley said. “I finally got to watch them practice. I haven’t had the chance to see that before so I got to see a lot of things they were doing. The tempo was just as advertised. It was pretty fast.”
Teammates with Auburn commitment Marquel Harrell and good friends with Auburn junior cornerback Josh Holsey, Stanley has made several trips to the Plains in the last year. With the Tigers in the hunt he said that having a familiarity with the program and school is something that gives him comfort about Auburn as he gets ready to make his choice.
“They were the first school to offer me,” Stanley said. “The fact that Holsey tells me everything about the program, that definitely helps. It’s just another place I feel pretty comfortable.”
As a junior Stanley caught 56 passes for more than 1,000 yards with 18 receiving touchdowns.
