Iso Cam: Darrell Williams

Darrell Williams is the top-rated linebacker prospect in the state of Alabama and a consensus four-star for many reasons, and he displayed a bit of each to kick off the 2014 season over the weekend against national power Miami (Fla.) Central. Scout was in attendance and captured several of his reps.

Prospect: Darrell Williams

Quick Take: Williams did what he always does with Scout in attendance, make plays, stick to his assignment and impress in space. Against speedy Central on Saturday, it was apparent that Hoover’s gameplan with the four-star was to have him solidify the edge on the strong side so that Hoover could contain opposing running backs. While Williams executed that very well, as you’ll see below, Central was still able to gash the Bucs with the inside running game for big yardage. Impressing on many levels, Williams was sound in his attack technique, pressuring the right shoulder of the blockers he went up against, rarely giving up ground in the process. He also showed the ability to get low and rush the passer on a few occasions, adding to his versatile arsenal.

The plays assembled below are not highlights, but rather a deeper look at the down-to-down process that of the best in ‘Bama went through against stiff competition. We call it Isolation Cam, where he is the focus more times than not. Williams is wearing No. 59 in black below:
