"My goal is to lead my team on defense," Johnson said. "That's what they have been wanting me to do since day one. They want me to be a vocal leader and I have never had to speak before. I have mostly just spoke with my actions."
In Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday night to watch his future teammates take down LSU in a huge SEC Western Division showdown, Johnson said he's happy he got his decision out of the way early and can just concentrate on his senior year and building a stronger relationship with the Auburn coaches.
"It took a lot of pressure off me," Johnson said of his commitment. "You still have to keep playing hard though. Me and Coach (Rodney) Garner have been talking a lot lately since I made my decision. It's exciting for me, but now I know I have to work hard to be ready when I get there."
