Auburn's 41-7 victory over LSU was just part of a big weekend for the Tigers with seven official visitors on the Plains. We'll have updates from commitments Jason Smith and Tony Bridges as well as Maurice Swain, John Burt, Kirk Merritt, Christian Kirk and Jeff Holland throughout the day.
*Burt said that he "had a real good time" on his visit to the Plains, his fourth trip to Auburn and second game he has seen at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Last year he was on campus for Auburn's dramatic victory over Alabama.
A summer commitment to the University of Texas, he said that he is still committed to the Longhorns, but added that he is looking seriously at Auburn. "I really like the atmosphere," he said of Auburn. "They have really good fans."
*Holland said that Auburn's competition is Florida and UCLA. He plans to take an official visit to Los Angeles to see the Bruins play in-town rival USC. The four-star recruit said he was impressed with the game-day atmosphere on the Auburn campus and Jordan-Hare Stadium. He noted that he will likely take an unofficial visit to Florida this weekend and that his official visit to UF will likely be for the team's banquet.
Jeff Holland is one of the top prospects in the state of Florida.
The linebacker said he is impressed with the Auburn coaching staff, including defensive coordinator Ellis Johnson, who is also the individual coach for AU's linebackers.
*Kirk said he had a great visit to Auburn and the Tigers are definitely going to be there until the end for him. The No. 4 wide receiver prospect in the country said Auburn sees him in the Ricardo Louis role in the offense, but also as a punt and kick returner. He spent time with Marcus Davis and said the two have really bonded since he made his trip to Auburn a few months ago. More to come from Kirk...
*Auburn is still the leader for Swain following his visit. He said that he still plans to visit Mississippi State, Kentucky and maybe Oregon. He added that Rodney Garner is the main reason why Auburn leads for him and he also likes the fact he would have a chance to play early next season. He's still shooting to be December graduate.
*Already very solid in his commitment to Auburn, Smith said he's not planning on taking any other visits after his trip over the weekend. He added that seeing Nick Marshall and the offense play so well was the highlight of the trip for him. Smith said he spent a lot of time in the ear of teammates Bridges and Swain and feels like Auburn is the place for all three.
One of the top athletes in the country, Merritt said he enjoyed his first look at Auburn and Jordan-Hare Stadium. He currently has a top three of Auburn, Oregon and Texas A&M. Playing slot receiver, he has the ability to also play outside in Auburn's offense and that's a big plus for the Tigers. He said that he will announce at the Under Armour game if selected, but will wait until signing day if not.
