Auburn Remains Third In Latest Playoff Poll

Auburn remained third in the latest College Football Playoff poll released on Tuesday.

Auburn, Ala.--Auburn remained No. 3 in the latest College Football Playoff poll that was released on Tuesday night after the Tigers won at then No. 4 Ole Miss last weekend in dramatic fashion. Following it’s closer than expected win over Arkansas, Mississippi State remained in the top spot in week two of the poll with Florida State holding onto the second spot after its win over Louisville last Thursday night.

Rising to the fourth spot in this week’s poll is Oregon after the Ducks took down Stanford last week. Alabama checks in at fifth with TCU sixth, Kansas State seventh, Michigan Stateeighth, Arizona State ninth and Notre Dame rounding out the Top 10.

Once again Auburn’s schedule is well represented in the poll with LSU and Ole Miss both in the Top 25 as well this week, making six of Auburn’s 2014 opponents on the second week playoff listing.

For Auburn the goal is still about surviving and advancing. With another challenge coming up this weekend against Texas A&M and games still ahead at Georgia and Alabama, Coach Gus Malzahn said he’s proud of the road win last week, but there is still a whole lot of work ahead.

“We had a huge win on Saturday against one of the top teams on their home field,” Malzahn said. “We’ve got another big one now. We still have four games left and we are focused on this game. We know we are going to get their best and our guys understand that. We’ve got to figure out how to get better in all three phases, not just this week, but every week.”

Kickoff for Saturday’s game is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. with CBS televising the game nationally.
