Expected to get a visit from Gus Malzahn on Saturday, Bridges said he’s hoping to learn more about Auburn’s new defensive coordinator Will Muschamp as well before he makes a final decision in the coming weeks. Known for his aggressive defenses and standout secondary performers, Muschamp’s reputation has already reached into Mississippi with the big cornerback.
“I have heard he’s a great coach,” Bridges tells Inside The Auburn Tigers. “I know he’s had some NFL offers and jobs. I think he’s a good coach. He’s coached some of the best.”
Already with a decision to make between Ole Miss and Auburn because of his January timeline for getting into school, Bridges has still been keeping up with the Tigers through former teammate Derrick Moncrief. With a good relationship with the coaches and players on the team, he said for him his feelings for Auburn start with Malzahn.
“It’s really about the coaches,” Bridges said. “It’s mostly about Coach Gus and them. I like his personality. I think he’s a good man and a Christian man.”
Losing seniors Jonathon Mincy and Trovon Reed at his position and with Jonathan Jones heading into his senior season, the Tigers are in serious need of immediate playmakers at cornerback for 2015. Throw in the addition of one of the best defensive coaches in the country and Bridges said things could change for him if he likes what he hears.
“It could have a lot of impact for me,” Bridges said of the Muschamp hiring. “I’m just still thinking.”
