Beckner Looking At Possible Auburn Visit

Terry Beckner discusses his recruiting and his interest in the Auburn Tigers.

St. Petersburg, Fla.--There is no question that Auburn is looking for immediate help on the defensive line for 2015 after losing seniors such as Gabe Wright, Angelo Blackson, Ben Bradley, Jeff Whitaker and LaDarius Owens. One of the guys that has become much more of a target since the hiring of Will Muschamp as defensive coordinator is four-star Terry Beckner out of East St. Louis, Mo.

Already looking at Auburn and Rodney Garner before the coaching change, Beckner is now strongly considering a visit to the Plains to check out the Tigers in two weeks. While it’s still not a definite, the 6-3, 295 defensive line terror said right now Auburn is definitely on his radar.

Florida State, Auburn, Ohio State, Oregon and Missouri are my schools right now,” Beckner said following a strong performance in the Under Armour All-American Game. ”Actually my last visit is between them (Auburn) and Oregon. I‘m going to try to get them in on the 16th because I already have two set for the following two weekends.”

With those visits set for Ohio State and Missouri the last two weeks, Auburn is hoping to get a visit from Beckner when his defensive line mate from the Under Armour Game, Byron Cowart, makes his trip to see the Tigers. While it’s still in the works, Beckner said he has continued to learn more about the team, program and coaches.

“I know they usually have a great defense,” Beckner said of Auburn. “They are a great school overall, very successful. I know the coach (Rodney Garner) has put a lot of players in the league. It’s a nice school.”

A powerful defensive lineman that is capable of playing outside if needed on the next level, Beckner was used exclusively as a defensive tackle in the Under Armour game and was one of the reasons why his team dominated on the way to a 46-6 win. It was the end to a memorable week he said.

“It was a great experience,” Beckner said. “Everybody was very cool and easy to get along with. It was just a great experience for me.”
