Beckner Enjoys First Look At Auburn

Four-star defensive tackle Terry Beckner talks about his first visit to see the Auburn Tigers.

East St. Louis, Ill.--While the need for pass rushers at the defensive end position is huge for the Auburn Tigers, just as important is finding another playmaker at the defensive tackle spot. With four senior tackles gone from the 2014 team, Coach Rodney Garner is looking for immediate help from the 2015 recruiting class.

One of the many highly-rated visitors from last weekend fits the bill, four-star Terry Beckner. A physical player capable of getting pressure up the middle, he was a terror at the Under Armour All-American Game and has colleges from all over the country trying to add him as a signee on Feb. 4th.

Making his first trip to the Plains last weekend, Beckner said he enjoyed everything about the experience and his initial look at Auburn. He particularly enjoyed getting a chance to sit down and talk with Gus Malzahn, Will Muschamp, Garner and the rest of the staff.

“For me the highlight was the school in general,” Beckner said. “I really liked everything about it.

“I like them,” he added of the coaches. “I think they are great people and great coaches.”

On the same visit as five-star defensive linemen Byron Cowart and CeCe Jefferson as well as talented linebackers such as Darrell Williams and Jeff Holland, Beckner said that was a neat experience to get to interact with all of that talent together at one place.

Having already visited Florida State before his trip to Auburn last weekend, Beckner has trips planned to Ohio State and Missouri the final two weekends before making his announcement on signing day. Saying the Tigers made a push on his visit, he said one of the main reasons why is the opportunity to get on the field as a freshman.

“I have a strong possibility of playing early if I go there,” Beckner said. “They only have three defensive tackles coming back so I would have a pretty good chance to play early. That’s something I will look at.”
