Auburn Football Recruiting: Flip Or Flop

Taking a look at the possible recruits that could change commitments between now and signing day.

Davante Davis--Very close friends with Auburn early enrollee Tim Irvin, Davis is expected to visit the Tigers on Jan. 30 and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him flip his commitment from Texas to the Tigers if things go well.

With Auburn focusing on shoring up holes in the secondary, and with Davis close with Auburn defensive backs coach Travaris Robinson, this one will be worth watching as signing day gets closer.

Jeremiah Dinson--Another defensive back the Tigers are making a run at late with the change in the defensive coaching staff, Dinson is committed to the Kentucky Wildcats at the moment, but it is far from a given that will be his college destination. An athletic cover man, Dinson is one of the hotter prospects in Florida at the moment and Auburn is definitely in the hunt.

Torrance Gibson--A four-star quarterback and one of the top athletes in the country, Gibson remained committed to Ohio State following his official visit to Auburn, but there is no question the Tigers made an impact. While quarterback isn’t a major need area for Coach Gus Malzahn’s team, signing players the caliber of Gibson is always a priority if you can get them.

Terry Godwin--One of the top athletes in the country, Godwin has been a longtime Georgia commitment, but has kept in touch with Auburn throughout the process. Visiting the Plains last weekend, Godwin could play on either side of the ball as either a wide receiver or defensive back. With Auburn’s wide open offense, Godwin could be a threat at receiver for the Tigers.

Rounding out an impressive group of defensive backs Auburn is in the mix for is Louisville commitment Sheldrick Redwine. Taking a trip to see the Tigers last weekend, he moved Auburn up his list with a trip to see the Cardinals coming up this weekend. If the 6-1 defensive back leaves his visit to Louisville undecided then you have to like Auburn's chances.

While Auburn is in the running to possibly flip several commitments from other schools, the Tigers look to be in good shape at the moment with most of its 2015 class. Right now there are only three commitments even scheduled to visit other schools and while all appear to be solid, they fit in the criteria of players that could possibly flip.

Richard McBryde--McBryde is one of the few commitments who has yet to take an official visit to Auburn. He was scheduled to be in last weekend, but a funeral forced him to delay his trip until this week instead. While the Tigers still look to be strong with him, the possibilities of visits to either Florida or LSU keep this one still somewhat in question.

D'Anfernee McGriff--The athletic offensive player visited Auburn last weekend and solidified his commitment to the Tigers, but could still visit Florida this weekend. With a huge need to find playmakers for new Coach Jim McElwain and a lot of room left to fill in this year’s class, McGriff will get the full court press from the Gators if he takes a trip to Gainesville.

Darrell Williams--Even though he solidified his commitment following his visit last weekend, possible visits to Alabama or Oklahoma keep this one from being completely done just yet. One of the building blocks for the Auburn defense down the road under Muschamp, Williams has felt the love from the Tigers since committing. Now with less than two weeks until signing day Auburn looks to be in great shape, but any visit this late in the process is cause for concern.
